Shades--to pull or not to pull
Just wondering if I should pull the day shades down or the night shades or should I leave them up for winter storage outside. Will the purple trim on the drapes fade (through the tinted windows)? If the shades are down will the pleats become relaxed? Also I would imagine there is going to be some leakage from the windows and that would mean dirty shades (if down) and the shades can only be vaccumed. What has been your experience?

We have always stored our rig with the shades UP. Also put cardboard or sunshades up around all windows so as to not let the sun in to fade the carpet or chairs.

We leave ours down while traveling and when in storage at the stick house. We have done this since it was new and haven't seen any fading or pleats losing their shape.

I leave mine down for travel and for the entire 6.5 months it is at the lake. Since I store my coach indoors I leave the shades up for winter. Done this on both of my Montana's and have not had any trouble.

Some are down and some are up. Our unit is only a year old but I haven't noticed any difference in the shades that are down all the time (bedroom) or the ones we put up and down everyday. The pleats look the same. We put the night ones down on the sunny side to keep the unit cooler. The tinted windows probably do more for sun protection than the shades do.
Happy trails......................

Our Monty spends the winters outside. We keep the shades, both day and night, down. We check the windows periodically to be sure they aren't leakig or accumulating moisture. We've only had our Montana a year and haven't noticed any adverse affects from the shades being down.

Add us to the list of people who store the camper with the shades down. We have not had any problems.

we store ours with all shades down. No problems. I have some pleated shades in my stick house that I have had for many years (I wont't say how many) and one of them is down nearly all of the time and they do not loose the pleat.

Left down when not in use. Trying to avoid fabric and rug fading from sun through the windows.

when we put ours in the storage lot wehave the night shades down, if the dark brown goes to tan I can live with that, and if it goes lighter I can take them down and get some fabrick spray and make them dark brown again.
