Not there but I envy you. If a race takes over 7 seconds it ain’t worth watching.

While all races are worth watching, the ones with left AND right turns are the best

I love a drag race. It’s what we did back in the day. I went to the Bristol spring nationals or was it fall back over 50 years ago. The fuel dragsters were turning 170 MPH. There wasn’t any need to go back. There was NO way they could beat that. Well not until the next race.
I got picked up street drag racing one time and would should have spent the night in the county jail. The only thing that saved me was the county JP was my racing buddies father.
After I quit street racing I had a 67 GTO that according to Road and Track my new 2.7 Ecoboost F150 will out run and get over 20 MPG. These are the good old days of high performance cars.

Yeah Lynwood, I went to a few about the same time in Tulsa. I remember sitting in the stands and picking little pieces of rubber off me every time The AA fuelers made a pass. They smoked the tires from start to finish! My first car was a 64 Plymouth Belvideer with a 426 4 speed and 4:56 gears. Drove it like the 16 year old idiot I was. Got 4 muffler tickets and an excessive acceleration ticket in the first year. Sold the Plymouth and bought a 65 Triumph Spitfire and drove it the same way, the cops never noticed it! Was more fun to drive, got no tickets, and 30mpg instead of 8mpg. Still miss the thunder of the big V8 though. I lost a lot of (but not all) interest in drag racing when you could go to quick and loose the race. Automatics and electronics diminished drag racing just like fat tires hurt road racing, for me anyway, others obviously disagree! For sure, you are right about today being the good old days. Sure going to miss them when they're gone!

The old cars have nothing on the high performance cars today. I bought an 2007 Shelby GT 11 years ago and had Shelby supercharge it. It had 502 rear wheel horsepower and about 590 hp to the crank. After Shelby supercharged it, it was called an GT/SC car. There are only about an 100 of them that was supercharged by Shelby.

Last time I was at a strip, art arfuns (sp) was running his jet powered "green monster". And that was a long time ago...
