Purchasing and setting up with Starlink
Good morning all!
I have been trying to purchase and set up service online with Starlink for the past hour. Entering all of the info but when I hit the buy now button nothing happens. All info in input and no error messages and all boxes checked. I often admit that I am techno-stupid but have never had a problem spending my money online!
Any thoughts or suggestions? I am aware Elon just fired a large group of employees but that was just in the EV charging department. I think…..

We did have any troubles. Are you purchasing the Starlink or do you have it already. We bought ours at Best Buy so we didn't have to order it just set it up.

We ordered through the website and it was automated and pretty straightforward - maybe blockers on your phone or PC???
You could try another device or try rebooting.
I suppose check your email to make sure you didn’t buy 3 already :-)
You could try the support tab in upper right of the website and scroll down.

Trying to purchase from Starlink on their website. Is yours the same price as the Starlink website and are you paying Best Buy for your monthly fee?

I had the same problem. Ended up going to Best Buy. Same price. Had it set up and operational in 20 minutes. Love it.

Our Starlink works well except in the heaviest down pours.
We have to activate it from internet/cell before we can setup. Our first time it worked after that it has to be done while we still have some sort of service.
Your problem with ordering might be ad blockers privacy settings. Try on another device/computer.

I've never had an issue purchasing off the Starlink website, so don't know what to tell you; I have both home and mobile.
You will not set it up until you receive the equipment. At that point super easy; install the Starlink app on your phone, power up the equipment and follow the instructions.

Went to Best Buy and bought the kit. They had to order the pipe mount and that takes a couple weeks.
Any advice on how to get a mount quicker?

Home Depot has Starlink Gen 3 system on sale for $349. The box includes the big flat dish + plastic kicker insert for sitting it on the ground or a table + 50’ cable + the router + the power supply (power supply and router can sit anywhere near ac120v outlet.
There is lots of Starlink branded and after market accessories are available for mounting the dish and the router/power supply, and of course poles to put the dish on the ladder of your RV.
For monthly costs - it is $165/mo right now. If you purchase the system and choose to activate it (for example) on Nov 10 - your billing cycle will run from the 10th to the 10th every month. Set and activation is easy with the Starlink app. Lots of videos on YouTube.
Edit: As brycestiener said below - there are several packages. My package for $165 is the unlimited Roam package. We are using Starlink in the S&B, plus in the Monte when we travel, or in our motorhome. I bought flagpole buddy ladder mounts for both RVs and modified a Harbor Freight adjustable flagpole to put the dish on for both to mount to the ladder of both RVs. I bought a roof eave mount from Starlink and have it mounted to a fence post at the S&B. We got home from a short trip yesterday and I moved the router/power pack to my closet (bought a wall mount) and plugged the dish in at the fence…got on the app and we had internet in about 5 minutes. Since we use Starlink at home - the $50 plan will not work for us…we use more than 50 GB per month.

Different plans. If you are travelling you will want the RV package. either $50(50GB) or $165 (unlimited)

I switched from the Mobile Roam unlimited $165 plan to the Mobile Roam 50Gb $50 (+$1 for additional Gb) plan last activation. I used it for 5 days and decided that 20 days is about the break even point for me (YMMV). If I plan to use it more than 20 days/mo, the unlimited plan will be better, but we seldom use it more than 20 days in a given month. I have a separate account for home; unlimited $120/mo.
If I plan a really long trip, I'll switch to unlimited for that trip; seems you can switch plans as much as you want. Be advised; switching plans will un-pause your service and generate a bill. If your service is paused, do not switch plans until you are ready to un-pause.

Scott - do you have a dedicated router and dish for your home service, and separate equipment for the RV? Or are you using one set of equipment for everything (like me)?

I have separate equipment. I've had the home service for several years; gen 2. I considered combining them, but I like my home internet to work when I am gone so I can see connected devices.

I don’t have very many connected devices at home - mainly the thermostat…but that fact dawned on me this weekend (first time we have had Starlink on the road). I may need to go back to my old wireless provider for $57/mo. We were camping in Houston in early December 2018 and an unexpectedly cold winter front blew through dropping temps below freezing. I had to call my son and ask him to go out there and switch the thermostat to HEAT. I bought an internet connected thermostat when we got back. I was looking at ATT and T-Mobile today to see if they had a hotspot that might work out here, and apparently I don’t have enough signal for their hotspots to work…life in the sticks! I used to tell my co-workers that the internet at my house was delivered every morning by a little old man on a bicycle…I suppose my former wireless provider was better than that…maybe I need to keep them.

I'll never go back to my old provider. I used to pay for 30Mbps service, seldom got over 12Mbps. Starlink is always over 100Mbps. My old service was cheaper, but the performance was not good.

Well, I agree…my old provider ain’t fast like Starlink, but all I need is to watch a few connected devices. It’s not about speed or GB limits. I’m trying to find the cheapest way to do that.

Thanks for this. Was wondering if this is possible and switching back-and-forth for long or short trips would work great for us to avoid the new, unlimited roaming cost for some trips.

The $50 plan is for 50 gig, then $1 per gig after that. Unless you use about 150 gig in a month, you'd be cheaper paying the $50 plan and any additional gig's over. We do sometimes use more than 150 gig in a month due to TV streaming and my wife not turning it off when we go outside, but that's another story.
