I have been using pellet grills for over 20 years. Can't eat anything off of a gas grill, just not the same. We use a Traeger Jr. with the folding leg kit installed on it. Fits right into the front hatch. I am sure I have converted a lot of people of to wood pellets over the years. Once you fire them up people that don't know what they are always migrate over....

Used the GMG DC for the first time this weekend. Started with a pork loin, which may have actually been to my benefit. Smoked it slowly, then wrapped it, bringing it up to temp, and then held it at that temp until we were ready to eat.
It had GREAT smoke flavor, and a good smoke ring. Was also very juicy.
Have some ribs to try next...

When you do your ribs make sure you use the 3-2-1 method and the will be perfect.

I agree, it is the only way I do my ribs. They turn out perfect every time.

I work with a gentlemen that has done this a LOT more times than I have, and actually has a trailer smoker, so he's pretty good. He told me about the 3-2-1 method, so we will be using that.
We smoked the loin that we did for about 3 hours, then wrapped it for the rest of the time that it was on the grill at low temp, and it came out great. We didn't do the final smoke on it, though.

Was wondering if anyone hauls a Kamodo Jr up and down the road? It's 68lbs of haul but just considering if it would be worth that yummy smoke of ribs and more...

Ironhorse, if you read the previous pages, many of us carry smokers. Ours never stays home. As long timers, we tend to have dedicated appliances and outdoor items that stay with our Montana. It really helps that we have a MorRyde slide tray. Enjoy that barbecue.

Just be aware that in Colorado, as much of the west, we are already seeing fire restrictions. I anticipate this summer gas grills and pellet smokers will be banned in the national forests and park. Not sure where you are headed, but enjoy your trip.
