Are you putting items aside for the Charity?? Still time to collect items!!
Time to start collecting items for the Goshen Rally! Each year, our generous Montana owners have supported a local Goshen charity, Church Community Services (CCS). CCS was created 53 years ago as a program to address the issue of poverty in the Elkhart/Goshen community. CCS is a faith-based agency, with over 50 churches working together helping local people weather life’s storms (and pandemics) and build more secure futures through emergency assistance and intensive job and life-skills training. Along with training, they support a large food bank, have vegetable gardens and have a store that offers numerous items. The impact of Covid has made it even more important to support this very worthwhile organization. Their website is
www.churchcommunityservices.org if you would like to learn more. They also sell gift baskets, soup/cookie mixes and warm hand-made mittens.
They are in specific need of the following items:
• canned meats: tuna, ham, spam, chicken
• starches: pasta, rice, hamburger helper, boxed potatoes
• hot and cold cereals, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup
• peanut butter and jelly is always a favorite
While not listed, I’m sure they can always use:
• Diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, body wash
• Toilet paper, soap, body wash, shampoo, deodorant
• Feminine hygiene products
• Toothpaste and toothbrushes
• Monetary or gift card (Meijer) donations would also be greatly appreciated!
We will be collecting these items during Rally week and will have a clearly marked area for donations. In addition, there will be a separate prize drawing at the ladies’ luncheon for those bringing a can of food/toothbrush/toothpaste for the charity!
Thanks in advance for your participation and here’s to another very successful giving campaign! Just for reference in 2019 we had 1020 pounds of food and personal care items and $195 in cash & gift cards! The challenge for 2021 is on!!
Thank You,
Mary Strom
