Any sharp turn will result in all sorts of scary noises from in and around the axles/wheels/etc. They are normal.

I put a permanent ink mark on the outside of the fluid tank when the slides are out and when they are in. At a glace I can tell if the fluid level has changed no matter where the slides are.

I have a piece of cardboard I cut to fit the space. It goes in during the A/C season and out during the heating season. FWIW, I also have cardboard cut outs for the floor vents during A/C season.

After much agonizing, we said what the heck, it's only money and are now the proud owners of a Montana and a Silverado tow vehicle.
