We have a '06 2500HD and have installed a pyrometer gage, but not sure what it is telling me. Had one in our previous TV, a '99 powerstroke, and rarely saw more than 950 degrees, maybe 1050 up a long, steep hill and about 650-800 cruising with the 5W. The new truck can hit 1300 in about two heartbeats (I do my best to not exceed 1250) and runs about 1000 at cruise--(I am going a bit faster). Does anyone know what the EGT ranges should be and for what duration or knows of a web site I can got to for this info? Have asked this question on other forums and have only received opinions---we all have one, but would like some facts, please.
