You probably didn’t hurt it. The next time you put water in your tank you will know for sure and even if you did hurt it no big deal they cost about a hundred dollars and after you get to it they are easy to change.

After thinking about this I think there is almost no chance you harmed your pump. I have forgot to turn mine off while traveling and when I stopped the pump was running with no harm.
