How do you know when it's full? If you're using the little lights in your control panel then you aren't getting an accurate reading. Those lights are almost never accurate and most of us pay no attention to them. You will definitely know when the black tank is full. With our tank, and just the 2 of us, we can easily go 7-10 days without dumping it.
As for emptying, are you making sure you have plenty of water in the tank? A lot of water is one of the best ways to ensure that it clears out the tank well.
