In addition to this exterior valve, I installed a clear 6 or 8 inch extension that twists on. Since this seems to rotate and or come loose, I put a small screw thru it to sort of permanently keep it attached. So I always shut of this valve when done draining and I can also tell when the black tank water is clear and clean.
