Daryl ... no worries ... I've run 5/30 in the winter and 15/40 in the summer in my 2017 for 3 years now. Both are listed in my Ford trucks manual depending on air temp and how hard you're going to use the truck. Granted new engines are built "tighter" but pulling 15 - 17K on a hot summer day ... I'll go with 15/40. As for brand ... I use the standard Motorcraft super duty formula diesel oil. As long as it meets Ford's WSS-M2C171-F1 specs you can't go wrong. I wouldn't use Wally Worlds house brand diesel oil though.

PS ... there's nothing magical about changing oil in a diesel. There's just alot of it, and it's way blacker than a gasser. The additives in diesel oil make up for the soot generated during combustion. Just get a bigger pan and always use disposable gloves.
