I have found the best time to wash the trailer (and the truck) is when it rains. The heavier the rain, the better. Rain softens the dirt to begin with, and then also helps rinse. It's going to rain anyway and spot after a rain if it's washed or not. So no need to dry. Yea, I get soaked wet from the rain. But the benefit of the rain helps aid in washing!
