Sounds like you've currently got a working solution. Sounds like, bottom line, the sail switch is weak. Personally, I'd have a new one ready to go for next time it fails. Did you make sure that the switch was clean? A little lint can cause intermittent issues. Pressing harder on the sail can maybe overcome that but make sure it's blown out.
