I received the recall notice. Apparently there are LED lights built into the knobs. The lack of protective coating on the LED connection allows for moisture to cause a short. Ok, I can buy that, but there is some odd discrepancy's in the recall. This is a very simple 12 volt circuit.
12 volts to a SPDT toggle switch. Position 1 lights the knob LED'S. Position 2 lights the Knob LED'S and the oven LED. Below is from the recall.

It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population with the Suburban stove LED backlight printed circuit boards (PCB) are not fully coated. The lack of adequate coating in the connection passages between the layers of the PCB can allow liquid from the cooktop surface to accumulate which could result in a short circuit resulting in failure of the PCB. If the PCB fails, it can become overheated and the polyethylene cover of the lights can melt and possibly ignite causing a fire (wouldn't this cause the 15 AMP fuse to blow?)

The LED backlights of the cooktop knobs can remain on even when they are in the off position. The LED backlights can come on and stay illuminated at random. (really struggling with this one. This is impossible since there is on off toggle switch)

I can live without the knob lights but I need the oven light. The recall fix is to kill the entire circuit. I opened the cooktop, found the toggle switch and lights. It seams to me that the fix would be to simply disconnect the knob LED'S and leave the oven LED operational, which is exactly what I'm going to do. Also, the inside of the stove below the grill and pan was spotless. It looked brand new! How much liquid would you have to spill into your stove?
