The South end of Galveston, down to Freeport, the road is called the Blue Water Highway. It is a nice ride. the toll is only a few bucks.

The ferry is out of Galveston, not Texas City. It goes from Galveston to Port Bolivar peninsular. It has been a few years since I have been over there, but portions of that road were not in that great of shape. I do not know what the status is after Hurricane Ike.

Yes, that is the long way around. Besides the 15-20+ minute ferry ride, the wait in line, the traffice waiting to cross and you may not get on the first ferry, it can end up taking an extra hour or two. So what day of the week, and what time of the day would be a good question.

Where are you coming from, and where are you going. There are many roads that avoid going through downtown Houston.

I live in Texas City. Lots of nice Mexican restaurants and I'm always hungry.

When are you coming through?
