If Durango is a stop, you have UNITED and ALPEN ROSE on 550 just north of town. East of Durango is Bayfield and Vallecito on 160. Vallecito is where we summer. Mesa Verde is great to visit but staying there while visiting Durango is out of your way. Your exit from Durango will be on 160 to Colorado Springs, so the east campgrounds would best serve you.
