I don't know the mattress size of our unit from the factory, but as advertised and bought from cw of southern alabama...it was a king. The top of the platform was queen size, the bottom hinged portion of the platform was sort of king size with the side towards the closet cut a little strange. So not surprised others have the reduced, low calorie platform. John
