This happened to me the first trip with our rig and the rod came down with all our clothes. I ended up removing the paneling and there was no solid wood for the closet rod center support to screw into. The support was just screwed into the overhead paneling. I put a length of 2x2 and secured it to the closet front and back. Used a brad nailer to put back up the paneling. Have not had a problem since. I can't imagine the manufacturer not installing a solid support for the rod center support.
