You. When the truck goes over the bump the suspension stretches the bags and then the pressure drops so the pump comes on. I have the Firestone's and love them. I installed them myself. I added the compressor after our last summer trip. it was a pain to inflate and drop the air at every stop. We went to 23 states. This year we are going to Maine for some lobster and will make many more stops so I installed a air pump. I didn't get the wireless which may have been easier but didn't want to risk losing the remote. This is my second year with the bags and I have no leaks so far.
