I have a short bed Ram 2500. The advise I got was to go with the slider hitch. The many time that I have had it out I can see why. I would not trust a sharp turn pulling a fifth wheel. Never know when that freaky even jumps out and gets you. The extra bucks for the hitch is cheaper than all the body work on you truck and RV at the most inopportune times.

Enjoy you 5th wheel. They are really great for longer term trips.
