Hi Dutchman, I'm a dutchman too (from Rotterdam) and have lived in Minnesota since moving to the US.
We have a 3582RL. Directly after the valves the black and grey tanks join into one drain tube. We have been using your method and we can vouch for it that it works great. We use a scoop of Oxyclean instead of Dawn.
