What do the sticker say on your door for your payload, you will run out of payload way before towing, most 3/4 ton pickup have anywhere from 1,900lbs to 2,300lbs, gas might run a little more but other will chime in, the rule of thumb is 20% of the gvwr which is 2,860lbs. If you can swing it I will go for either gas 3/4 ton or a 1 ton diesel.
