For future reference. In coastal Florida, keep an eye out for Tropical Storm Watches first. They usually come out about 4 days before anything big happens, but may develop.
If the Watch becomes a Tropical Storm warning, Counties will shut down all waterway land bridges when the wind speed reaches 40MPH.
If you are caught on the wrong side of a bridge then, you will have to ride out the storm even if it turns into a category 5 hurricane.
I don't know if coastal areas in other states have the same laws.
We lived on the Dade/Broward line in a townhouse during Andrew & stayed there through it. Never, ever again. It looked like Hiroshima just a few miles south of us.
We were in Panama City in our 5th Wheel as Hurricane Michael developed. We drove all the way to Biloxi to escape it as it built intensity.
The State Park that we left was evacuated & the 170 site Park was totally destroyed.
Don't mess around with tropical storms or hurricanes in an RV. Leave as soon as you can.
