My wife accuses me of the 'princess and the pea' syndrome. I can feel a slight fold in the pad if I lay on it! So I have a heavy cloth pad and also a foam rubber pad that is about 2 inches thick. The foam pad is at least 7-8 years old and hasn't flattened out or gotten valleys in it.
