You didn’t need to do the drain and flush for only 5 gallons.
I did that once with 5 gallons and my diesel mechanic said it would help the cylinders and cause no damage so long as I topped of the tank.
Did that never had any engine problems except for the fuel injectors on my 2003 Ford F-350. Ford converted the engine to diesel and was always changing the fuel injectors, and not because of the small amount of gas.
