2024 Quartzsite Quartzfest

At the National Rally last year, one of the events was a free Ham radio testing session. Numerous members got their Tech or General license for free. On top of that, QRZ offers a free radio to newly licensed Ham operators. I was amazed at how many Ham licensee’s we had in the MOC. Well, during Quartzsite there is an event the following week. Quartzfest is a Ham convention in the desert south of Quartzsite. Every day, they are offering free testing for Tech, General and Extra Class at noon. Maybe you are like me and never considered it. Maybe you always wanted to but never had the opportunity. (By the way, Morse code is no longer part of licensing.) So, if I’m interested, what do I need to do? First, all three exams require a 74% to pass. The Tech and General tests are 35 questions. So, you need to answer 26 questions correctly. YouTube and Amazon are your friends for study materials. I bought the ARRL test prep book and watched YouTube videos. There are lots of practice tests online for free. QRZ.com is one of them. Quartzfest.org will give you the schedule.
