I agree with this 100%. People think a dog is human, etc. They were bred to hunt, etc (most breeds). I grew up on a farm and our dog was outside in it's doghouse. It was alone all day when we went away. Do you never leave kids with a baby sitter? The kids will cry and fuss, but eventually learn to take it.
