I really feel the weather services and media downplayed Dolly too much. JMHO. I've lived in LA and TX my entire life, usually well away from the gulf. I learned many years ago you just can't take a hurricane lightly. We were one of very few people at the RV Park in Aransas Pass that was packed up and ready to move. We wouldn't have needed to, but we were prepared. Brings to mind Hurricane Rita. IIRC, she was headed to the area of the coast we are now in (Rockport), but ended up going in near the LA/TX border. You just never really know.
