I have seen this problem many times on semi tractors and trailers where they were unhooked and rehooked several times a day thus got a lot of excess wear and stress on the wiring inside the plugs. Most often the fault would be a poor connection, of course it always worked fine when in the shop and I tried to duplicate the issue. Then I would take the plug apart and a wire would practicly fall out. Just my experience.
