I've found that when things get shook around it isn't so much from an up and down motion, it is from moving side to side. Slowing down a bit for curvy roads helps but the main reason is due to the steering wheel. That trailer is at the end of a whip. The wrong movement of the truck's front wheels amounts to a lot in the trailer.

We have competition when towing with friends. When we get to camp we check the chains that hang from the ceiling fan. The goal is to not have either chain wrap around a fan blade. The one with the fewest wraps wins. We're getting pretty good at it. This little game goes a long way towards not beating up the trailer and its contents while towing.
