By the numbers a little over one person in 100 have been confirmed with covid19. Many of those with no symptoms and no need for hospitalization. And a little over 4 people in 10,000 have died. Based on a US population of 331 million plus. Percentage wise those are small numbers and not surprising any given person would not directly know someone infected or deceased from it.
