^^This is what my money's on I highly doubt that weight is the issue. Your living room and/or kitchen slides weigh much more and use the same gear box/motor

The bedroom slide has the most difficult access since you have to remove the slide valance. But replacing the gear box itself is a pretty easy job. I had to replace the one on our kitchen slide, which is newer than yours.
