New modern heat pumps an operate down to -20 degrees. The one we have in our home will operate down to 5 degrees at or above it’s rated capacity. That is it’s a 36000 BTU unit and will have over 36000 BTUs at 5 degrees and will operate down to —15 degrees. We had a geothermal unit before the mini split. The geothermal was the most efficient heating unit made when we got it. The mini split is cheaper to run than the geothermal.
If you need or will need a heating system or AC in the near future and your climate isn’t too cold check a new heat pump system out. Your heating and cooling bill will go down.
