If your 2006 3500RL is like my 2007 3075RL, there should be no reason to remove the antenna amplifier to connect up your satellite. On my 2007 I have a single external coax connection. There is a coax cable from the outside connection to a dual coax wall plate in a cabinet beneath the TV. There is a short coax jumper cable across the two connectors on the wall plate. By removing the short jumper cable, I can connect another coax cable from that wall plate to my sat box. No mods at all except removing the jumper. And if I am ever in an RV park with cable I can just reinstall that jumper. Antenna wiring is not affected at all.

Don't know what your TV mounting looks like, but here is my before and after from a 27" to a 32".
