I finished the repair and thought I'd show what was done. This is a 2019 3931FB with the residential fridge. I appreciate everyone's input. It was helpful and a solid fix.

first we moved the fridge out.

They used little #8 self tapping screws. I used #12 sheet metal screws to hold the plywood and 1/4" sheet metal screws for the brackets

There was 4 1/2" of metal tubing on the left and 5 1/2" on the right. There was nothing in between.

The bracket has a flange that prevents the fridge from moving backwards and providing for circulation. I had to drill out the opening where the bracket attaches to the wall to accommodate the 1/4" screws.

I used a 3/8" plywood 37 1/2 x 24" screwed into the tubing and liquid nails.

Here's the finished piece. It extends about 3/8 inches into the kitchen from the original depth.
