I have 6 of the Anderson "buckets". Love them. Decreases the jack stroke needed and therefore improves stability and jiggle. I think the comment about cracking and collapsing refers to the first generation of the product. Newer ones are more robust. I did have one magnet pop off due to a over torqued attachment screw. Called Anderson and they mailed me a complete roll of them at no charge. I have also used the buckets when I repack bearings. They can definitely support the whole weight of the 5th with no issues.
I also have the Anderson Ultimate hitch and that hasn't "folded up" either. I'm always careful not to "just repeat" what I see on the internet without personal experience.
