I've had that happen on a few occasions.

The craziest one was a Robin that built a nest on top of the pin box... mine sticks out past the front cap. The rig was parked in that camping spot for 6 weeks but I was only there on weekends. I left it alone and she raised her brood and before I had to move it at the end of the season. Funny she would build it only 4' off the ground in the wide open.

I usually put a piece of cardboard in the back of the pin box in the spring to prevent nesting.
