Just an FYI, I had to replace my element too. The one I got at the local hardware store wasn't nearly as long as the Suburban one even though they are BOTH rated the same wattage. I believe the longer Suburban element will heat the water faster (more surface area).
Also to help get the element out/in (torque) I put wrenches on the bar going through the element wrench.
