Recently purchased 2015 Montana 3711FL

We bought our first rv (2015 Montana 3711FL) last week and are getting it delivered a week from now.

The pre-purchase inspection turned up no issues other than the tires needing to be replaced and that the battery should be replaced since it was original and wasn't holding a charge.

So my predicament is that the seller is out of town and is not able to look up the type of battery I want to have on hand before it's delivered.

Does anyone know the correct battery type that I would need for a 2015 Montana 3711FL? From what saw there is only one battery, but I may be mistaken.

Thank you very much for any insights.

I would install at least a couple of the biggest 12 volt deep cycle batteries that will fit, or even a couple of 6 volt golf cart batteries, regardless of what was/is installed right now. You may need additional cables, but do it right so you will be set for a while.

While what you plan to do with the RV impacts what and how many batteries you need, Bob's advice is a good start.

You need less battery power if you plan to be plugged in all the time. Dry camping requires more battery power.

What Carl said.
IF you plan on doing a lot of boondocking, have a look at lithium batteries.

Thank you both.

The RV will be permanently parked with a constant power source. It will get regular use throughout the year, though less frequently in the winter and not as a permanent residence.

[Disclaimer: This is our first RV, so there's a lot I don't know!]

Are there any suggestions on how to identify the proper physical size battery to buy in advance?

There is not a specific size required but the bigger the better. It should be a deep cycle battery vs a starting battery.

A deep cycle AGM battery will be sufficient for a unit that is always powered. An AGM avoids worrying about water levels (not that it is a big problem, but it is something that needs watching).

What battery and how many depends on how you will use your camper. If it’s going to be on shore power almost any will be fine. Boondock a lot you might want more amp hours. I like to boondock and have one battery. It’s all I need. When it gets low I crank up the generator.
