Faulty Micro Air soft start
I've had the Micro Air soft starts and thermostats on our rig since 2020. Recently, on a vacation to Avila Beach, we encountered problems with the front A/C unit (Running very slow, fan speed weird, and not acting normal) I had a mobile tech come out, who advised the motor was getting very hot. Put in a new motor and that was not the problem. Checked the capacitor, and that was not the problem. At about this time, we had a family emergency and had to pack up and head home. This last week, I got the rig into a reputable RV shop. Got word today, that it was the Micro Air soft start that was broken, which entailed the wrong amount of amps coming out of it. Got a new soft start coming in, and hopefully that will be it. Anybody have one of the soft starts fail on them? Happy camping everyone.

That has me worried. I bought 2 of the Micro Air easy starts over a year ago. They're still in the box. I haven't installed them since the rig went back to Elkhart for sidewall replacement and crack repairs. I know the warranty is out on them since it has been so long. I hope I didn't get bad ones.

Like anything mechanical or electrical, I guess they only last so long. I really got them if we ever dry camped and used our portable generator, and we never have. We're always at places with full 50amp hookups.

Electrolytic capacitors, which the soft starts have, all have a shelf life. The clock is ticking if they are being used or not. Typically the life span is between 2 and 10 years. I believe Micro Air offers replacement parts, or even better if you can get the label information off the capacitor, I'm sure it's a generic part. I personally like the Titan brand, a lot of their product line is made in Georgia; while most everything else comes from Mexico or the peoples republic. Should be a simple fix.

Same here. I plan to put in a second power inlet in the front so I can run the generator and air conditioner while travelling to keep the rig cool for the bulldogs.
We almost always have 50 amp full hookups and my wife never will boondock.

if they fail, do they take other equipment with them?
