Yikes, snakes! I bet there are lots of snakes around, both venomous and not. I think it would be a good idea for you to have an emergency vet in mind, and a plan for what to do for your doggies, in case they run across somebody slithering who's not so harmless. The snakes will be out early, in the morning and late in the evening, too, I think--nobody likes the heat!

Thanks for the update.
My brother and I used to camp on a Plantation in South Carolina, the Cowden. We would camp 2 miles from the owner’s home. No one to bother you nothing but nature, near Heaven on earth except of course the mosquitoes.

I've almost completed the inventory of all the contents in the Plantation House. I started doing this when I was here Jan, Feb, Mar and "they" wanted me to continue this time also. So, I picked up where I left off, and on those days when it fits in, I'm doing inventory. The only thing left were books, literally .... hundreds of "ancient" books. But, they need another accounting. In "it's" history, this is the 4th time doing an inventory. So, notes are being compared to the prior inventories to ensure all the items listed before are still here! I'm just making the list. Someone else is doing the cross referencing and creating a new data base.

Any, as I've had opportunity to actually handle some of these old books, I've been keeping a mental note of the oldest book here. And I think I finally found it today.

Well, there are actually 2 books that grabbed my attention. The first is a book written in French. But when I looked for the date, it 1824! What struck my attention, this book is exactly 200 years old! I sat there and gazed at this work and could only wonder about 200 years worth of history!

The oldest book is dated 1789 (The Roman Numerals at the bottom of the title page). The name of this book is called: The Christian Religion Containing The Universal Theology of the New Church Which was foretold by the Lord in Daniel, Chap. vii. 5, 13, 14, and in the Apocalypse, Chap. xxi. 1,2. By Emanuel Swedenborg, Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Translated from the original Latin.

(So .... how's THAT for a title of a book!

Now! That book is 235 years old!
