GPS mount
What's a good GPS mount for a RV785, in a 19 chev 3500?
The suction cup is a pain & the copilot is always dropping the GPS.

I have the 785 with the suction mount in the bottom center of the windshield, down low enough that the Garmin sort of sits on the Dash. Been there for a few thousand miles this summer. Just have to make sure the mounting area is good and clean prior to sticking the mount on.

I got a piece of plexiglass about 6” wide and bent it to go over the center console. I attach the GPS, 7” Furrion monitor and room for the iPhone. Keeps the dash and windshield clear.

Why not ditch the GPS unit and just use your factory navigation on the truck, or run Google Maps through your phone and onto your factory screen.

We have a Tom Tom. I mounted the little round plastic pad that came with the device to the top of the dash. It works just fine. I attach my Furrion Observation camera monitor directly above it on the windshield. It's between the rear view mirror and the Tom Tom this way, slightly to the passenger side so I can see the entire hood of the truck. Never had a problem. A little spit on the suction cup and they (both) hold just fine!

Stock Navigation system sucks! I use a “sandbag” mount that just lays on the dash. I have to reach up to make minor adjustments every so often, but no big deal.

Not a Chev but the dash panel in our truck has some metal surfaces that are polished smooth enough to hold the suction cup. We mount it in a spot just above the console on the navigators side of the cab. Works for us both and keeps it out of my line of vision. Maybe your truck might have something similar. It doesn’t need to be glass. Keeps my cup holders free too.

I think I'm going to try a Proclip mount to go in the center right above the radio.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

On our van, we use an adjustable cellphone mount that goes into one of the cup holders. In our silverado, we have Apple Play on the infotainment center, so whichever map app we are using (like Google maps, for instance) on our iPhone plays on the dash screen.

Bad idea, none of those know your weight, height, turning radius etc. Only an RV specific GPS will know those things after you enter the data.

After several different things I made I've finally setteled on a sand bag mount velcrowed to the dash with industrial strength velcro. Nothing moves and nothing has to be adjusted. And I agree with Bartman, the first time your phone or dash GPS low bridges you or helps you find a 10% grade you'll be buying a RV GPS fast.

Try these. Rounded plastic with a smooth top and adhesive on the bottom. Sticks great to you textured dash and the GPS suction mount holds fast to the top. https://www.amazon.com/Dashboard-Mou...s%2C199&sr=8-7

There are map apps available for iPhone and Android that do that, if your rig has the ability to plug it in. Personally, I don’t want another screen cluttering up my dash, plus the expense of a stand alone GPS. But, to each his own.

Learned something new today. Never knew there were RV specific GPS systems.
