Cell phone difference
I come across an article that explains the difference in carriers and their technology they use. It may help make decisions in deciding which service to use. And explains why iphone is only available to ATT/Cingular customers.

The author does not touch on data vs voice, but is my understanding that CDMA (Sprint & Verizon) has the edge in that department, especially in rural areas. GSM works well for voice in mainly urban areas. (At least that is what I have read).

Sometimes technology goes way beyond what most people want. What is important to me is the fact the phone rings and I can talk on it. As far as text messages, photos and all the other stuff that the phone companies charge extra to use, I could care less. Now they are trying to peddle a phone that does all the above plus an MP3 player. When will it stop?

My attitude is in line with Charlie's. We want a phone to be a phone. On the other hand, we do use an express card/air card for internet. We have Cingular/ATT for voice and Verizon for data.
