Portable ON-THE-GO for us also. Inside space is too valuable to install it inside.

I also use On the Go. Saves space and then I control when regeneration happens based on water tests. Since softeners can only remove as many “grains of hardness” as their capacity, every time I change location it changes the treatable amount of water.

On the Go Double Standard here also. Did not install due to how you have to regenerate unit. We wouldn’t be without a softener.

On the Go double standard plumbed in basement. Filters are 3/4" and I used 3/4" PEX so there is less pressure drop. Works great and does not take up much more than a five gal. bucket. We camp in freezing temps some time and furnace keeps things from freezing.

I got the double standard with free shipping from PPL Motorhomes. I would just google then select the shoppoing tab then find the best deal.

We went with a Watts RV Pro 10,000 softener and this is how I installed it. Can pull the unit out to recharge it and put it back in pretty easy as it's hooked up with short 4 foot long hoses.

That's the danger of being on this forum -- seeing new stuff that I now "have to get" for our RV! This portable water softener system looks pretty cool. I have to add this "On the Go" double softener to my list!

Being a native of South Texas and our very hard "limestone" water I would not live in a stick house without a water softener.
For those of you who do use the On The Go softener: do you filter the water at the CG as well or does the softener do an adequate job of filtration? TIA.

These are the filters I use plus a ceramic filter under the sink
https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/B3112.htm
3/4" gives low pressure drop
drjjj - I am in southern Texas now and I find I have to regenerate the water softener every 4 to 5 weeks. Cost last time was 1.18 cents. It does a great job.

I use a Camco filter in front of the softener. Then another after and all drinking water goes through a Brita pitcher. Probably over kill but just what we do, we have a residential fridge with ice maker.

Just installed an Acuva UV water purifier this evening for potable water purification after the three stage filtration.

Are you filling your freshwater tank or will softener supply as needed through city water connection?

Works fine on city supply, I run a regulator at 45psi.
Even wit 2 filters and softener no pressure issues.

Wife`s stomach is ultra sensitive to water not from home base. Went with 2 stage pre-filter ( sediment-charcoal) then on to the large On the Go softener for most water needs then branch off to a Reverse Osmosis 6 stage filter with a separate small faucet on the sink for drinking ,ice, cooking needs. Seems to work for her.
