The 2020 F350 SRWs with the 12,400 GVWR boost failed to get an increase in the rear axle ratings. The rear GAWR still are limited to 7230#. Until they raise them to match the tires capacities, it's not much of a gain. The springs, brakes and axles are more than capable.

I am having a hard time believing Ford would lie about the weight of their trucks without seeing some proof from owners. This photo is from Fords 2020 Super Duty spec guide.
You can see the max payload of 4580 and the numbers to the far right are the weights of the front and rear axle then then total weight. I grasp the concept that adding options can affect payload.
I find it very hard to believe that Ford would post payload numbers on the door jam sticker if they would put the truck above the GVWR. This could get them in serious legal hot water. Same for the tires. They wouldnt post a number higher than the rating of the tires installed on the truck.

The last two sentences in this paragraph is the fine print.

Our 2014 truck has a payload of 3579 lbs according to the yellow door jamb sticker. Ford 6.7 F350 4X4 SRW/CC/SB Lariat Package.
I've found different ratings on nearly identical trucks. Friend has a '16 with same configurations as ours. Also a Lariat package. His payload sticker is 31** lbs.

3700 pin weight loaded with gen.
Add the weight of the wife plus maybe 100 pounds of gear I carry in the truck for another 250. 100 pounds for hitch. 150 gear in the bed of the truck. Add another 100 for me as I weigh more than 150 and more gear. That brings me up to 4300 so still 100-150 under. Might just stay with a SW truck. Trailer will only be used maybe 3-4 times a year.

The 3700 pin weight I mentioned (previous 2014 SWR F350) included all the items you mentioned. Fully loaded, people, fuel, dog, etc. No washing machine.

Thanks Rip, I been researching this topic for awhile and noticed more than a few owners of the same rig have payload stickers in the 4500 range. I decided to stay with a SW F350 as well. I'll only be towing it 3-4 times a year and as long as I watch the pin weight will be legal.

I read, glanced, through this thread but in reality you need to know what YOUR sticker says. Someone saw one, noticed someone had a high rating (how?) heard, those just aren't anything substantive to either buy something or tow something with....heck, it's only your life, your family's and mine..... KNOW your numbers and adhere to them....JMO

I guess I will chime in just for the fun of it. I have a 3160 and a 19 F-350 DRW CC 4X4. It tows my unit just fine. I also towed it with an old 2000 7.3 SRW CC 4X4 and really it towed it pretty good. I did have a rear tire blowout, no wreck occurred but it did wipe out the bed of the truck. I also towed the same unit with a 2017 F-350 SRW and a 2016 F-350 SRW trucks and they towed it better than my old truck. Now the big difference between all of the trucks. The DRW truck is by far more stable in all driving conditions, extreme winds, corners, mountain passes and even some emergency evasive maneuvers like wildlife suddenly appearing in front of you or idiots who you have to share the roads with. All the trucks had the power to tow it especially the newer ones. As for actually following the axle weight ratings it was probably over on all of them except the dually. For the old truck I was over on the rear axle and the GCVWR. It is a shame that some company didn’t offer a comparison drive for all the prospective buyers that would let you drive through some tight twisty steep mountain pass with the same trailer and a 3/4 & 1 ton SRW trucks verse the DRW trucks. There really is no comparison between them except in what the human mind justifies to make yourself feel better. Bottom line, get what you think will work for the job you intend it to do. Sorry to ramble on but these truck posts just seem to never end.

How much pin weight can you carry?

The GAWR number is multiplied by 2 Just like the tires. Each axle has its own rating. A 4,000# axle x 2 = 8,000# The axle rating is always times 2 Weigh the truck and see how much the rear axle weighs and check the white sticker for the axle rating. do some math and the amount left over is what you can carry in the truck. Make sure to check the tires for there load rating. Don't go over that and you will be fine. I said it before and I will say it again. The yellow sticker is only for DMV. It's how DMV charges for registration. It's for all the trucks. If they allowed for the weight capability to increase, DMV would continue to raise registration fees. They are so high here that eventually you wouldn't buy any more big trucks. I paid $650 for a 15 F250. Seriously this is nuts. They keep increasing payload and power numbers but the yellow sticker remains the same.

First - Congrats on the new truck!
I don't need a pic as your word is good enough for me but I would definitely appreciate you getting back with us on what your yellow sticker lists as payload capacity.
Not everyone needs a Dually. But most everyone who owns one sure thinks everyone else does. Pretty sure it where the expression "Misery loves company" originated.

Lets see...........door jam sticker of 4500. Subtract 50 because I weigh more than 150 pounds. Add the wife, 150 pounds. Then maybe 100 pounds for a hitch and 50 pounds of junk in the trucks backseat.
Thats 350 pounds so the truck can roughly handle 4150.
A member already posted his pin weight for the same rig with a generator is 3700 so seems safe to me and gives me room to add more stuff.
Tires are rated to carry that much, so is the axle. If the rig doesnt ride level add air bags for another 50 pounds max. That still gives me 300 pounds more to play with. Been following a similar thread on the Ford truck forum and owners are reporting when they get their trucks weighed the weights agree with what Ford posted.

It sounds like the door jamb sticker speaking to payload is being used. I believe if you used the gvwr minus the stuff you listed, and minus the truck weight, you may end up with a different number for how much can be loaded. I doubt that a srw one ton will carry 4500lbs.
