tankless Water Heater Upgrade Help

Hi there!

I’m new here and did a quick search on this topic but didn’t quite find my answer. Was hoping someone here has also upgraded their Montana to a tankless water heater system and what type of unit you got. We have a 3711FL and just bought the Fogatti tankless water heater, but failed to realized how much smaller the unit is compared to our 12-gal tank space.

My husband wants to return this and find a different unit that fits directly to our current spec, but from the research I’ve done, that doesn’t exist so people just retrofit the standard size tankless systems to their rig. I’m of the (probably egotistical) belief that we are perfectly capable of retrofitting the tankless unit and then just slappin’ the original door right back on so it doesn’t look like anything was done at all… but he thinks I’m delusional haha

So I guess what I’m asking is if someone can confirm that we should NOT return the unit, and that we CAN retrofit the unit, and ultimately will HAVE to retro for any unit we get because they all will be significantly smaller than the space regardless…

I appreciate any and all input in advance!

Suburban IW60 is what came in my unit. I am not familiar with sizes of the other units on the market. If I can find it on my computer I will post the sizes of my unit and you can use that to compare to others.

Several members here have played with or installed tank-less water heaters. A Search will uncover the discussions. Use the Search bar up near the top next your your name. I used the terms tankless water and got some good hits.

This Thread is a good start with a link to a You Tube vid on installing a Fogatti WH https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=86398

This is a Thread about a different type tankless but it has install pictures. https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=85412

And then there is this Thread: https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=78659

Thank you!! This is what I really needed. I just needed to confirm the unit size was normal. Looks like I just need to get a bigger door fitting!

Thank you
