skylight surround

so some dummy stumbled while on the roof and cracked the skylight dome.
i guess it was better than fallin off the roof?
question.. the space between the lower lens surround and the box frame is empty.
i want to stuff this with insulation as shown to reduce potential of condensation in this space before i place the new exterior dome.

is this a good thought or am i missing some potential untoward effect?

Hi Turd,

(Makes me laugh every time you post. I love that sketch. I miss the days when people had personalities, and stuff was funny.)

I can't think of a reason not to put insulation there, unless it would somehow backfire and cause more condensation problems. I know the space you're talking about is empty in my Montana and is just part of the rest of the empty space in the whole ceiling, because little mice run around in my ceiling sometimes and end up in the skylight over the shower, where I can see their undersides.

The entire attic space is vented out the two mushroom vents on the roof, so any moisture will vent out of the attic through those vents. With insulation packed around the skylight, if moisture were to get in there, it would likely stay for a long time. We've been in all the temperature extremes and have never had an issue with condensation in the skylight.
