I think you are making the right decision to have your dealership do the survey and, if it can be done, the actual install. If they come back and say logistically, it can't be done, then you have your answer. If by chance, you decided to go forward without their consult, and you went ahead an attempted an install, you could have ended up doing damage you'd be kicking yourself for in the future.

You made the right call.

Besides .... (don't get me wrong, I love my wife too), but sometimes wives just don't get it.... that (sometimes) repair jobs are just a little bit too much for us to do without recruiting professional help. Some jobs require more than 1 person to do. Installing those awnings is defiantly one of them. And.... only YOU know your physical limitations also.

So, I think you made a good call on this one! Good luck. Let us know how it comes out.

We have been RV'ing since 2001 and on our 2nd RV since then. Never had toppers on either one of them and doing just fine without them. I still get up on top of trailer to sweep off slides each time when we are underneath trees. I'm 76 now and still get on top to wash roof and sweep branches, needles and such. You have to be careful in high winds with the toppers from what I have read. Each to their own. It has worked for me without them

For me they are required. I have always had the dealer install as part of the purchase

One point that does not seem to be pointed out. the slide toppers keep the rain off of the top of the slide. This can help prevent leaks on the slide at the seams and gaskets.

The other is it fun to watch the grandkids drain the water off when it pools on them. For some reason they only do it once.

Toppers ordered through the dealer and should be installed and ready for pickup by Wednesday. $2950 after a bit of negotiation with both the dealer and DW.

Good morning -

I have done it myself. You need follow the advice above and, you may, desire to contact a dealer that installs them for advice. You will need at least two people, two ladders, and patience. We did four slides in two days, taking our time to install them. I also suggest taking the time to understand the internal workings of the toppers so you have a thought in mind as to service them.

Cheers

Read above. I'm having them install by the dealer.
