slides in or out? (not a moving question)
All
I did try using the search function with the above phrase...but no help.
I am back and forth between Dallas, Texas (where the RV is set up for me to live in) for work and IL where permanent home base is.
Travel this summer has been in TX for a few weeks, travel for a few weeks, back to TX.... I have left everything set up while I was gone. Elect on for refrigerator, shut water and gas off, leave vents open and a couple windows partially open for ventilation. (has been consistently over 100 during the day)
Will be traveling from TX for 6-8 weeks. Don't have trees or anything other than other RV's around me. Should the slides be brought in or is it better to leave them out for this length of time? Not sure how air circulation may change with all pulled in, even if leaving vents open.
Thanks
bryon

Bryon,
I don't believe is makes any real difference. Since you have an RV reefer, if it is in a slide it would be level with slides out but maybe not with the slides in.
Unless it is only a couple of days, I would likely shut your reefer down also.

For that length of time, personally I'd bring them in and as Zack said I'd turn the fridge off.

I would bring slides in as well for that length of time. It serves no purpose to leave them out but does expose them to whatever may come weather wise - and in the Dallas area that can get volatile.

Bryon-- I myself would bring the slides in for the amount of time that you would be gone. It is personal choice as to leaving the refrig on or off. I am assuming that you have an RV refrig in your unit. It can be set on automatic which will automatically switch from electric to propane should the power go out thus keeping the items inside cold or frozen. If you do decide to leave the frig on you will need to leave the propane tanks open. I do this same thing even if my unit is in storage. I keep a few things in the frig and freezer so they are always cold or frozen that way even if my power goes out. If you are concerned about using up all your propane if the power does go out, I'd suggest contacting a propane company there and see if you can get a larger tank and have it hooked up. This, like I said earlier, is all personal choice with the frig and propane being turned on but I would close the slides.

Ditto what others said......slides in, empty and turn off refrigerator and disconnect water hoses.

Slides in.
If you are connected to shore power, I would leave the air conditioner on as high as you can just to keep the humidity under control.

Also agree slides in, shades down, vents open and water and refer off.

Agree with the prior suggestions of slides in, A/C on, but make sure you DISCONNECT the water. I have seen too many times where valves leak a little and are not completely off, which could only cause problems if a very slow leak starts filling up a grey or black tank. I still never understand why people connect hoses to their black flush connection but "turn the valve off" and leave the RV unattended. It only takes one very small leak a day or two to fill up that black tank and have it overflow into the living area...
