Don't Need No Stinkin' Big Truck
We have a Mountaineer with a GVWR of 14,000 lbs. across from us being pulled with a Toyota Tundra. Must be those Toyota's are tough

The question begs, is the Tundra towing or the Mountaineer pushing?

Pat Barton, I like how you did your signature! Text to the left, pictures to the right. Looks nice and doesn't take a lot of vertical space. I have not been successful in doing that to mine so I cheated and did a view image info. It appears you put all of that in a single jpb, offline, then just pasted the img url in your signature. Is that what you did? Excellent idea.

Need pics Charlie, hopefully hooked up when they leave!! Then when another weight thread comes up, we can provide evidence to reinforce the salesperson's standard response: "No problem, your truck will pull it just fine". See, here is visual evidence.......NOT!!"

Recently I was looking for a new daily driver. Tundra was on my short list. The sales kid kept going on and on that the Tundra can pull 10k#. He had no idea of the concept that only 1 model of Tundra (Standard Cab, Stripped Work Truck) has a 10k# rating. Every person he talked to he told the Tundra would pull that weight. It is scary to think of all the people who has bought one from him thinking it can handle that kind of weight. I bet if I told him how much the 3400 weighs he would of told me it would have been ok behind the Tundra.

Actually it is hunky-dory for him. He made a sale that should have gone somewhere else and most likely will never face any consequences for it. To bad about the people who took him at his word.

I can just see the smoke coming from all the brakes (TV & 5er) while trying to control the speed on a long down grade.

I always ask those Toyota guys "how many miles per bag do you get"? They never get it.

According to our towing guide book for trucks, Toyota does have the most capacity for towing among the 1/2 tons. BUT...... They don't offer a 3/4. What's up with this guy?

I was remarking about the truck owner. The sales person, well, someday he might be sitting at a red light when behind him he hears something. He looks in his rear view mirror and sees a Toyota Tundra with a too large trailer behind it trying to stop... ya never know.

I wonder if they would tell you a Camry can tow a 27 foot travel trailer?
